You
will need to first obtain an NIE No. (identification) from the police. You
will need Passport, copy of passport. This will take approximately 10 days
to obtain.
An
application can then be made for your residencia. Again you will need your
original passport and one copy, a certificate from a Spanish Bank showing
a minimum current balance of €
600, 4 passport sized photographs, a medical insurance policy or
inscription in the Spanish Social Security system and a copy of (a. Your
house deeds. (b. A copy of your rental agreement. If you intend to work in
Spain as an employee you will also need a copy of a work contract of a
duration of not less than 6 months.
In
the case of self employment you will need a certificate of Autonomo (self
employment, activity license). If you are to work from home or provide
invoices for clients whilst having no business premises, also a
certificate to explain that you are not opening a premises. This will be
provided by your elected Assessor / Gestor. In the case that you wish to
open a premises then you will also need an opening license.
You
will then be given a stamped copy of your application, which will be
acceptable by the authorities until your original residencia is completed.
After approx. 2 months you will be asked to go to the Police in order to
have your fingerprints taken. Approx. 1 month later you will be able to
collect your residencia. A total of between 3-4 months.
