| You
are able to drive a vehicle with your home country's plates on your own
international drivers licence and also Spanish plated vehicles, if you are
a non-resident. You are only allowed to drive your own plated vehicle for
a period of 6 months and are at risk of a fine or confiscation if this
period is exceeded.
Should
you become a resident then you will need to obtain a Spanish driving
licence. This is a simple, and not an over expensive matter. Once you have
a Spanish licence you are not permitted to drive a car bearing foreign
plates. The Spanish licence is international and therefore valid abroad.
|
For
a Spanish licence you will need your residencia, passport and original
driving licence.
You will also need to take
a standard medical and aptitude test at one of the appointed centres. This
is simple and consists of blood pressure test, eyesight and reflex tests.
You will then be given a certificate to add to the above mentioned
documents. The Driving licence must be renewed every 10 years up to 50
years of age and every 5 years thereafter. At 70 years of age it must be
renewed every year. |
