If
you decide to open a local (business unit) then you will need an opening
licence. The cost of this will vary between local authorities and is
calculated on the square meters, situation and type of business.
The
most expensive based best location can be around €
16.83 per square meter, in the case of commercial premises. In the case of
bars or restaurants the formulae is approx: € 29.45 per square meter.
Once
you have requested the opening license you will have an inspection by the
Sanded (Health Dept.) to ensure that you meet all requirements. You will
pay € 46 for this inspection. If all is in order you will receive your
license. After an unfavourable inspection you will receive a report of
what needs to be done. These should be carried out as quickly as possible
in order to avoid delay. There will then be a second inspection and,
providing they are satisfied, you will receive your license. Never open
before obtaining your license as you could well receive a large fine! An
opening license can take up to 3 months, but you are usually able to trade
once your application has been lodged at the local council.
